but it's okay, i'm going to have fun with my NATIONAL EXAM. yup, exciting ;p
so i'm going to start my digital portfolio by introducing my life in IPA class.
everyday, there must be a class that involves calculating something, either it is physics, chemistry or math. sometimes in biology we also have things to calculate. so basically IPA students' life is filled with exciting numbers. it is extremely FUN :) please enjoy my blog, and i would appreciate it if you would leave comments. thank you!

the learner's profile
Inquirers
For this year, not only the IB students need to do the EE, but the nationals’ students also need to make, even though it is not as complicated as the IB ones. EE is a project where we as a student create an essay about something we want to take further research of. For this occasion, my essay is about stating why the Burj Al Arab is such an icon to Dubai. This essay made me do a further research about the topic I am doing. Because to be inquirer means to develop curiosity, I agree that I am one of this learner’s profiles because I am always curious about the topic and I really enjoyed doing this project. By doing this project, it had helped me to become more informed about the icons and building symbols of the world. This is an independent project and so I chose this project by my own will, and so this makes me an independent learner.
Thinkers
This profile mostly applies in my tests and quizzes. Thinkers are able to apply their skills critically and creatively in a complex problem. For this profile, I’ve shown my thinking abilities in my math and chemistry exams. Even though we think we already mastered the topic of the exams, there are always questioned that requires a further skill of analysis to be able to answer the question. Some math and chemistry exam questions are compilation of information we already knew and using our creativity to combined different information to solve the problems. Sometimes I think that we never learned this type of question before, but why the teachers did gave questions that we never had learned before. It turns out that it is not something that we never had learned before, but something that we need to think further to be able to solve the problem.
Communicators
Communicators are able to express their idea and present it in a way that is understandable and confident of their ideas as if he/she is the master of their own ideas. Communicators are willing to work with others. During history class we are asked to present the topic that we had been given about the development of kingdoms in Indonesia. During this presentation I used poster for the audience to have something to look at. Before the presentation, I had learned and studied the presentation well so I am more confidence in showing my work. At the end of the presentation, the audiences are allowed to ask any questions. Collaborating with others, means that I am not only talking in front of the class myself but also answering the questions that the audience had asks that is related to the topic.
Open Minded
It is necessary to be able to live in a community and accept other people’s culture and their opinions. Being open minded are able to understand and appreciate other people’s judgment and are open to new perspective, values and traditions. By taking part in the student council, I’ve learned that by being involved in this community, there are going to be different voices. During the sports festival, we as the main committee of sport festival were having difficulties with the school’s side because we wanted to include several activities that the school won’t allow and there are many others difficulties. This situation is actually testing me whether I am open minded or not, because there is one case where we are not allowed to invite guest band. In this situation we are very rebellious and insisted to have a guest band. When we ask for explanation, the school explained to us that it is better if we use the money to help other people instead of renting an expensive band. By hearing this, I was influenced and agreeing to this statement. But at the end, we gave an honest and reasonable opinion why it is necessary to invite the guest band, the school also understands us and allowed us to invite the band. This is an experience where I understand a new perspective from the school side.
Principled
In an organization, it is important to act with integrity and honesty. Also a case form student council, at the Sport festival event. I am chosen as the head of the security member. As an individual, I always take responsibility and actions related to this job because I am the chosen person to be fully responsible to this area. I ask some of the junior students to help me go around the school to keep the school safe. I had set up rules and regulations for the junior students to follow to avoid unfairness. I also prepared regulations for the visitors to follow and the consequences because the event is happening in the school area and still needed to follow the school rules. There are sometimes where visitors (not participant) wears short pants and is against the school rules, because they are visitors and does not know the general school rules before, I tried to be fair and justice by warning them first and asks if they had brought a more appropriate clothing that they could change. I did this because I think it is not fair to give them consequences because they didn’t know it before. To my junior students, I tried to always be honest to them if they didn’t do their job well, or did not work at all, because if I kept those emotions myself, it wouldn’t change the situation and it is better if I tell them so they can learn from their mistakes.
Reflecting
After having an experience, the most important thing to do is to reflect the situations and think of things that could be changed and learn from the mistake. During the valentine celebration, the main committee is only 4 people, this is because the celebration is one week before sport fest and so the committee is divided and the smaller committee are asked to be responsible to the Valentine celebration. During this event, it is very chaotic because there aren’t enough people to help during this event. I learned from this experiment that after we reflect it together that it is best that the committee is supposed to be as one, and not be divided because the amount of work became heavier if it is divided. This is what I’ve learned and it is best if we reflect the things of what we should do and avoid in the next event to not repeat the same mistake again.

global perspective
GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE
There are so many cases that are happening in this world. The topic I would like to talk about is the Muslim fanatic case. It has been a fright to the world because of the terrorist around us. It is suspected that most of the terrorist that affects us are part from a Muslim group. These terrorist kill people just because of religion race. They think that non Muslim people are not acceptable and think that if they kill non Muslim people the killer will please God and for sure make their way to Heaven. These people I called them Muslim fanatic. They way of thinking is brutal and not modern. They don’t adjust their perspective based on the modern growth. I chose this topic because I am a Muslim myself. I believe that God doesn’t want us to kill each others; instead we should make peace in this world. This doesn’t mean that I dislike Muslim. By showing this opinion; I disagree with the way Muslim fanatic thinks, that could danger other people.
But on another perspective, maybe those people are born in a community like that and so we couldn’t blame on them all the way. The people that Muslim was first introduced are barbarian people; this is why Muslim is introduced to them. Different from Christianity, it is introduced to educational people. Muslim wasn’t introduced to educational people; instead they are introduced to women, and slaves. Maybe this is why some Muslim people think in an old way, and that is something we can’t blame completely.
I live in a family community that is open minded, I go to a Christian school, so I see the differences in Muslim. But the country’s majority religion is Muslim. It depends on the individuals, if they are open and modern minded then it helps the country’s growth. But now they are still soap operas that are Muslim based and those soap operas sometimes shows violence and old ways of thinking that doesn’t help educate the country, they only think of the ratings and the money it produced.

ACADEMIC COMPETENCE
#3 Subject: Physics
For the national program, we are required to do a mid semester test. The subjects are chosen by the teachers. For this test I picked the lowest subject which is physics. On this test I got only 22 out of 100. My score got the lowest out of everybody in my class. The physics test includes topics such as vectors, gravity, elasticity and energy.
The test had 15 multiple choices questions and 5 essays. The physics test was held on the very first day of the mid semester test week.
What distinguishes this piece f evidence is the score. It was so bad that I am very embarrass to show it to my parents. It is strange for me because physics also involves math equations, but my math tests always get good score. I believe I am not prepared at all for this test. Even though the night before the test I studied really hard, I wasn’t able to memorize the formulas and I don’t understand all the topics that were given. In result, I wasn’t able to answer most of the questions. It was so hard and I wasn’t able to remember anything that I’ve studied the night before it.
Because of this situation, I am eager to study hard and pay more attention in class. I really have to increase my scores because it is below average and I felt that this is the result for not being focus in class. I was really shocked when I saw the score. I tried to negotiate with the teacher and asked him if I could do any extra credit to improve my score. So I did a report from a physics book that I read.

ACADEMIC COMPETENCE
#2 Subject: Chemistry
When I attend year 11 for the first time, I attend a chemistry class, which is weird for me because in gr.10 we only had science for our subject. Science includes Physics, Chemistry and Biology. We are asked to make a project in Chemistry related to the environment. My group consists of Tia, Edgar and Jojo. Our group had this idea of encouraging people to use Lavender as mosquito repellant instead of the liquid mosquito repellant that consist of poison that could harm the environment. For this project, we as a group did a power point presentation that shows where to buy and how to use the lavender as a safer mosquito repellant. We made pictures using Photoshop and convert it into a jpeg form and copied it to power point. We present the power point at Indonesian week. For the people to recognize lavender we bought the plant and place it on a table next to our presentation. Our aim is to reduce the use of toxic mosquito repellant and use lavender instead for a better environment.
This evidence is unique for me because it isn’t a test or a forced project that a teacher assigns a specific task. We are only asked to make either a presentation or a lab project related to the environment. This project is not graded but we enjoy creating it. It is a different atmosphere of project for the national students, because we don’t usually ask to make presentation.
By being aware of the environment and encouraging others to make a difference is something I learnt during this process. It helps me think of alternative ways to preserve the earth’s environment better. By doing this project, I am more aware of the environment and my brain is more train to think various ways to avoid using toxic that is not helping in making the earth’s environment better.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
My personal interest is somehow related to the use of computer technology. My interest is related to graphic designing. I really love to design pictures and manipulate photos using the computer technology. The technology I am using is Adobe Photoshop. This started when my cousin, and expert in IT was using this program. I get really interested and asked him to install it to my PC so I can learn more about this program. I become used to this program and learn about it so much more that I am advance in this program. Works that I have done using this program are posters that I made for a restaurant. The manager asked me to make a poster of the restaurant’s special menu and announcement of live music available at the restaurant. This is a community involvement because I didn’t ask any payment for it. I use Adobe Photoshop CS and create the design based on the features available in that program. 
I learn this program by doing trial and error and try clicking icons. I tried to understand the use of each icon and what difference does it makes to the design. I bought books about it and research information from the internet. Sometimes I also asked my peers about this program and asked them to teach me any new techniques that I don’t know yet. I enjoy learning this program because it allows me to transfer my creativity into a visual media. I could definitely apply this skill to make other media that doesn’t always have to be posters or flyers. Using Adobe program there are other application such as making movie or mixing songs using the same company. I also tried to learn those other programs, but not as advance as Photoshop. And I prefer Adobe Photoshop.
